Solar energy is stored in a special insulated solar hot water tank in the form of hot water that was heated by solar panels during the day.

The sun always rises for about 6 hours each day and it will continue to replace the used hot water that was used from the tank.

The cost of solar energy is dependent on the number of people using the solar hot water heater and what type is selected. Figure 20 gallons of hot water storage per person per day in the house. If you have six people, then you need 120 gallon tank and 60 sq. ft of solar panels. These figures are averages because the farther away from the equator the more solar panels you need.
