Rachel Said:

How do you feel about Obama's remarks at the governors climate summit?

We Answered:

Excellent. I love the last part:

"Denial is no longer an acceptable response."

Indeed.

Also, pay no mind to this James E clown or his ideologically-driven ilk; there's no question that our reliance on fossil fuels, the supply of which is controlled by foreign governments and the OPEC cartel, poses a far greater threat to economic prosperity than carbon abatement. Even excluding the titanic costs of climate change, the simple abatement costs of addressing it range from slightly lower economic growth (~.1% annually) to significantly higher growth. In other countries who've already stepped up to the plate, opposition to GHG abatement policies virtually disappeared as soon as they were put in place; turns out that what's good for the environment is also generally good business.

And also like to say that I most certainly hope that President Obama will appoint judges who believe that corporations and individuals owe the public a duty of care in addressing these issues. For instance, ExxonMobil, a particularly shameless offender that has bankrolled many different denialist groups (either overtly or through libertarian think-tanks), should be held financially liable for damages related to injuries resulting from climate change. This is a doctrine well established in common law, and it's an affront to justice to allow them and others to escape paying for the damages they've caused.

Addendum:
ExxonMobil's insurer, Swiss Re, is obviously concerned about this potentially becoming a legal liability, as they recently refused to underwrite a policy that included insurance against climate-related lawsuits.

Is it time for politicians to leave climate science to the scientists?

We Answered:

Politicians who support the idea of agw are for the most part left leaning. Action taken against global warming falls in line with their goals, so of course they promote it. But until we have a final answer, I think politics should remain far in the background.

The IPCC's findings are summarized and presented by a group of political appoinitees who have a habit of omitting relevant information that conflicts with their agenda. Maurice Strong is one of Canada's top liberals and global warming's most avid activists. He is also founder of the UN's Environment Program. I think he sums up the UN's agenda nicely in this very politicized quote:

"Isn't the only hope for the planet that the
industrialized civilizations collapse?
Isn't it our responsiblity to bring that about?"
- Maurice Strong,
founder of the UN Environment Programme

HOW COME THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY HAS NOT ACTED IN VALIDATING WINSTON KAYANAN’S CLAIMS ON THE ENVIRONMENT?

Winston makes up his own science. They already have alarmist reinventing science. They aren't taking auditions for more.

Ahh Starbuck you've done it again?

People are leaving California faster and faster everyday. I-10 has become the best thing out of California.
Soon the politicians are going to be wondering what happened when the money is gone. They will be left with their hand out. AB32 is a funny

Help on Research Project - Scientific Revolutions?

We Answered:

Sir Isaac Newton and Leibniz developed calculus. That REALLY changed the paradigms of math, physics, chemistry, and astronomy.

The concept of a paradigm IS hard to understand. Look it up in Dictionary.com. Paradigm shift is harder. Dictionary. com very likely has that too.

You're getting it a lot better than you think you are. Good luck. :-)

Conservatives -- Can you read this summary of the Cap and Trade bill without foaming at the mouth?

We Answered:

So, ... it sounds like, in addition to substantial costs being passed on to the consumer, you're counting on the means of energy production being sources that have minimal output. It's unbelievable that anyone in their right mind supports this. The real question is: If and when programs like this, socialized medicine, and an unimaginably oversized budget take effect, what will the democrats do? You can only blame Bush for so long. So long!

Looking back was Nov 20th 2009 the day that “Global Warming” finally ended?

We Answered:

No AGW is like other dark forces of mythology. It's very hard to kill.
