Plus they work at night.
Hail storms in Texas can turn solar panels into junk. protect them

One i built for my bother in law in Skidmore Texas area was two 12 inch PVC pipes buried 40 foot apart with 50 1/2 inch PVC pipes run between the 12 inch pipes. buried 12 inches under his lawn.
one of the 12 inch pipes ran into the house and a powered fan forced air through the system into the house
on hot days (90+degs)The air that came out was about 50 DEGS
plus on humid days it collected clean water in a tank for drinking

if you have a well that a windmill can be installed with a jack-pump backup that is good too.

one day maybe i will write a book on all that i know.
i worked mining for years in areas that were way off the grid.
