Solar Energy Pros And Cons

Katrina Said:

Congress' Current Energy Policy. Pros and Cons.?

We Answered:

Coal is dirty and natural gas is non-renewable. We have other ways of obtaining energy that are cleaner and more efficient.

Even nuclear would be better, because we're going to get rid of the insane amounts of waste eventually... I hope. But anyway, nuclear produces insane amounts of energy too, and as soon as we can efficiently destroy the waste and permanently control meltdowns, it will dominate.

Solar is good, but not nearly as efficient as it should be. It's less costly than it has been, but it's still a ripoff in the short-term. Wind is pretty much on the same scale, but we have tons of land to put turbines on (same with solar and panels, though they should be made more efficient first).

Hydroelectric is efficient and relatively earth-friendly. If we can keep the rivers flowing, it would work out fine. Environmentalists are good people to care about the natural habitat around hydroelectric dams, but the news about threatened species is almost always overblown by the media.
