Solar Energy Japan

Alfred Said:

Why so little about the nuclear leak from a sub near Japan and another in facility near Vienna. Safe energy?

We Answered:

wasn't there actually a guy whose leg was contaminated by that nuclear stuff? Why hasn't these incidents made front page? Alarming and Disappointing.

China - the New Clean Energy Superpower?

We Answered:

Lol! The same reason that China's uses slave labor, forces a one-child policy, has no human rights, labor rights, and quality control standards, and doesn't care about killing people with it's horrible pollution is why it's a superpower! Isn't it really strange that people who supposedly care about the environment and "man-made global warming" is always making excuses for one of the worst polluters in the world? I guess they get to decide which "carbon footprint" is an "emergency" and which is not.

Jamie Said:

Do you think we should put more energy into populating other planets in case something happens to Earth?

We Answered:

I think we should explore the idea of colonizing other planets, but the idea that as a first step we should engage in a multi-trillion dollar gamble to another star system that may or may not have inhabitable planets seems a bit off-base.

Better to focus on colonizing Mars, our Moon, and any other potentially inhabitable bodies within our solar system (ie. the moons of other planets). This would be:
a) more realistic
b) a better use of resources
c) a testbed for technologies that could be put to use in your interstellar scenario when other (potentially) inhabitable worlds are confirmed

Alternate energy sources in cars?

We Answered:

America has some of the best electric car companies. For example, the Green Vehicles Triac is going to be the first affordable highway speed EV available in July.

And Aptera is going to have the second.
http://greenhome.huddler.com/products/ap…

Both are California companies. Next year ZAP and Miles also expect to join the mix.

Although ZENN might have the best one, and they're a Canadian company.

And of course the Tesla Roaster is one of the coolest cars on the planet - a fully electric sports car.

Why is Bush actively discouraging the development of alternative fuels?

We Answered:

Why must development of solar and wind power be funded by the government? Why must they be the only alternatives? Are there other methods of generating power? Are there private firms that are doing the necessary research? How come the cleanest method of generating power is never mentioned? What are we supposed to do for power between now and when the alternate sources are developed? What will we do if these sources do not produce the amount of power necessary to operate our homes and businesses?

I know how to answer these questions. Private business always does a better job than the federal government in research and development. If there are other methods than wind and solar then private business will find them. The only thing we have currently that is clean is nuclear but lord knows we are not allowed to use that. Even though much of Europe uses nuclear energy. I believe the total is around 75% of their total energy generation is from nuclear. What we should do in the meantime is drill in ANWAR, and ND and Colo. We need new refineries that will pollute less because of the new technologies that are available now that weren't when the last refineries were built 30 years ago. We need to realize that just because Germany and Japan can do this in their much smaller countries does not mean it will work in a huge country like ours. This does not mean we abandon solar and wind, it just means we might need to explore still other options. Lastly, it is not all Bush's fault. This problem has been coming for many years and no party has encourged private business to develop any of the alternate sources of energy. To blame just Bush is to take away blame from every President since Ike.

Discuss It!
