Renewable Energy Education

Mike Said:

Where can I find distance education graduate programs for biology and engineering?

We Answered:

The fields you mention require laboratories, which are very "hands-on" courses, and therefore would not be available online. Courses online usually do not have a laboratory, and tend to be business related. You would do better to attend a community college for your first two years of college, and then transfer to a four-year university for the last two years.

I recommend community college because the classes are small, you will receive individualized attention, and the tuition is usually about 1/3 the cost of a four-year university.

A career counselor in Student Services can assist you in selecting your career by examining your options.

James Hansen says renewable energy 'just too expensive' and calls for more nuclear power - agree?

We Answered:

Completely.

Renewables will be able to provide a lot more than they currently do: maybe ~20% of electricity in most developed nations by the 2020s.

That leaves a gaping hole and nuclear is the only sensible way of heard of filling a good chunk of that without massive air pollution and CO2.

Peggy Said:

Is mechatronics engineering applied in renewable energy sector?

We Answered:

Hardly. Mechatronics is mostly used in the entertainment industry. As far as I can tell the mains application is mostly a high tech version of puppeteering.

If you want to go into renewable energy, you might want to study chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering instead and specialize appropriately.

Guy Said:

actually i am going to make a NGO . Which will work for renewable energy , advanced technology & education . s

We Answered:

good. and your question ... ?

Frank Said:

Mechanical Engineering at Manchester U or Energy Engineering at Leeds U?

We Answered:

U of E is very geared towards renewables and Scotland is well placed to derive benefit from them - higher average wind speed and massive currents [compare well globally] in the Pentland Firth.

Overseas students will be welcomed at all your choices.

Universities contain better educated people than the average population and UK has a society tolerant of others.
