Definitions of non-renewable and renewable energy sources?

We Answered:

Non-renewable uses a source that consumes a natural resource in limited supply. (Oil, coal... we can't make more so it depletes the existing supply.)

Renewable uses a source that can be taken or grown and therefore can be replenished (Sunlight, wood, corn... we can make or take more and it doesn't deplete a limited supply.)

Patsy Said:

I need help with debate class I. This argument is about Renewable and Non-Renewable energy sources.?

We Answered:

upsides of non renewable i can give would be that it is cheaper and most commonly used and it can power things pretty well compared to most renewable are very very expensive and dont power things as well example: solar energy effective on a large scale but very very expensive and hard to upkeep (cleaning etc.)

Marsha Said:

what are some advantages and disadvantages of renewable and non-renewable energy sources.?

We Answered:

Wind -
pros - clean, renewable
cons - not very efficient, location dependant, expensive to maintain, requires a lot of land, reliability

Solar
pros-clean, renewable
cons- clouds, large area required, location, currently not very efficient

Hydro
Pros - efficient, clean, renewable, reliable
Cons - location, environmental impact of dam

Propane
Pros - relatively clean
Cons - expensive, not as efficient as other fuels, must be near a source

Coal
Pros - cheap, cost efficient, reliable
Cons - dirty

Nuclear
Pros- no air pollution, efficient, reliable
Cons - disposal of used uranium, security, expensive, although quite safe, an accident can have severe effects.

Paul Said:

What is the difference between renewable and non renewable energy sources?

We Answered:

Renewable resources are resources that we can replenish. For example, trees are a renewable resource since we can grow some more if we ever run low on them.

Non-renewable resources are the exact opposite. Once we use them up, they're gone forever. For example, coal is a non-renewable resource. It would a take millions and millions of years for coal to naturally reproduce, so we consider it as non-renewable. Same goes with fossil fuels, for example.
