Facts Solar Energy

Darryl Said:

Will you give this solar energy idea to your parents?

We Answered:

Nice Idea by the way. Great Thinking

Naomi Said:

Why do Republicans block the free market expansion of clean energy in the US?

We Answered:

How far do you live from a desert? I live pretty close to the Mojave. Solar panels as far as the eye can see. No thanks. Deserts are beautiful places with amazing life and scenery you won't find anywhere else. The folks that live there oppose it outright. Not just this administration. ANWR bad place to find energy Mojave good? NO WAY!

Wanda Said:

Does solar energy have any benefits to the community?

We Answered:

In my area we often have rolling black outs on very hot days. Basically we can't produce enough energy to meet peak demand and parts of the grid overload and shut down. Since my city has strongly encouraged solar over the last few years we have been spared the rolling blackouts. During peak demand my home and the over 200 other homes with solar panels are creating more energy than we use, so we are helping reduce overall demand for the neighborhood.

I'm not sure how it would work if we had a failure in service, I would be producing my own energy. I'm not sure if my neighbors would be able to draw from my excess or not.

Stacey Said:

Are the planets in our solar system currently aligning and emitting cosmic energy?

We Answered:

Everyone nailed it.

In cosmology, Cosmic energy or cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation filling the universe and is radiation left over from an early stage in the creation of the universe, and its discovery is considered a landmark test of the Big Bang model of the universe.

Planets don't emit cosmic energy.

Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune do emit more energy than they receive from the sun, but it's not "cosmic", it's infrared radiation, which is felt as heat. Scientists think the source of some of the energy is probably the slow compression of the planets by their own gravity. It has nothing to do with alignment, nor does that energy have any affect on Earth.

As for the alignment of the planets, To figure out the probability that all of the planets will be in a straight line out from the Sun (with the Moon in line too), which is the real meaning of the word alignment, we must determine the odds of all the superior planets falling on the same celestial coordinates on the ecliptic while at opposition, the inferior planets on the same coordinates while at inferior conjunction while on the ecliptic, and the Moon at one of its two node points. The amount of time that it would take to happen would be roughly 86 billion-trillion-trillion-trillion years.

Considering the universe won't even last that long (nevermind the planets) it unlikely to ever happen.

Joyce Said:

Transparent plastic swimming-pool covers called solar heat sheets have thousands of small lenses made of air..

We Answered:

If anything less solar energy is getting to the water as some of the energy will be wasted heating the cover itself.
However the cover will keep in the heat of the pool as it is heated, so it does work, just not the way it's advertised to.
