Basically this is why from the beginning the scientists and engineers that developed them wanted it all done in orbit using lunar or orbital materials. Ground based solar is a massive pollution risk and a tremendous waste of raw materials. I stopped reading the article here:

"This is money laundering: we borrow money from China and ship it to Saudi Arabia and take a little cut for ourselves as it goes through our gas tanks. What a way to build our country."

I now see why so many people believe in AGW. And yes the title DOES fit, just not as the author intended.

First Solar is headquartered in Phoenix, AZ (not Ohio). It's a 22 BILLION dollar, international corporation. Even at this size, it's growing in leaps and bounds due to the global market for it's products (thanks to government subsidies/regs in other countries). Its earnings are predicted to grow at a staggering 46% annually over the next 5 years! The author is trying to say this company can't compete without taxpayers subsidizing it in the states??

I agree. when we tax one form of energy & use that tax money to subsidize another form of energy it just confuses the issue of which ones practical & which ones are just a political pork barrel project.
it would also help if the media was educated to use a single unit of energy such as joules when comparing various methods of production instead of their using btu,kw hours & horse power interchangeably.
actually it would be a BIG help if the media was educated at all.
