If you are looking for longevity go with a 24 volt forklift battery and cut the bar so you have 2 12 volt batteries and wire them in parallel.

The differences are in the construction of the lead plates, with the fork lift battereis made the most durable. Deep cycle batteries are designed for a life of about 400 charge/discharge cycles to 80 percent capacity. AGM's if you get them new, have a bit longer cycling life, but do not do well with desulphating techniques.

As lead acid batteries go, the capacity is determined by surface area available.

If you are looking for longevity and affordability, go for golf cart batteries as they made a little more durable than Deep cycles.

To learn more about the lead acid battery, there is a book published on it. Worth having for reference even if you only need to read it once.
