the universal charger is handy for those who's phones cannot charge their batteries, if your green LED wont' light up, you have not alligned the battery according to its positive and negative poles... if its wrong, you could mess up the battery altogether, i have used the charger and it takes 2 hours to fully revive even a dead battery, my suggestion, if you have a phone's charger, charge it with that, stop using this universal charger.. and avoid messing up the battery life...

No you can't charge a battery that way. Walmart sells cell phone chargers for less than $12.

You should be able to get it for less than $30.00
The only problem is that you need to order it through the internet.
