Build Solar Panels

Sharon Said:

in theory would it be possible to build a craft out of solar panels then use nuclear propulsion to travel at?

We Answered:

None of that really makes any sense.

There is no known or projected means of propulsion that will achieve the speed of light because that's impossible -- it would require infinite energy.

Various nuclear-based means of propulsion can achieve an attractive specific impulse (one measure of rocket performance), but such engines are currently impractical. They were tested in the 1960s and 1970s on a small scale.

I assume you propose to clad the spacecraft in photovoltaic cells. I'm not sure what you believe this would accomplish. That technology produces electricity only when relatively near the Sun, which means they are useless in interstellar space.
