the battery has failed. It is toxic! You need to properly recycle this battery. Put it in a ziploc bag and take it to the recycle center. Most big box hardware stores have a recycle container.

wash your hands and do not let the chemicals get on you clothes. The powder is cadmium crystals.

You do not need a new camera, you need the batteries that the owners manual suggests that you use.

The newer rapid chargers do a decent job of charging batteries. They have been improved over time like most electronics. The "smart chargers" are capable of handling most the different chemistry's on the market today without damage.

no, won't work. You need to either buy a chager made for world wide operation or one made for 110V.

Under voltage will actually damage the batteries you are trying to charge.

Another option would be to have a LICENSED electrician wire a special 220v outlet just for the foreign stuff.
