Battery Charger Cell Phone

Daniel Said:

Is it better to keep a cell phone battery on the charger when not in use, or waiting until it is empty?

We Answered:

For longevity it is better to let the battery fully discharge before charging it. This does not have to happen all the time but it helps.

Also avoid storing the battery in extreme cold (freezing or below) or extreme hot (80 Fahrenheit or hotter) temperatures for extended periods of time.

Beyond that most cell phone batteries today are impossible to over charge as they have a mechanism that stops the charging process once it is fully charged.

Wanda Said:

is there a an external charger for cell phone batteries?

We Answered:

Depends on the phone. However, in general, you're not going to find much made by the manufacturer...unless you've got a "heavy-user" or business user phone. (For example, I think Treo has something.)

I've never seen that thing before, but it looks like it would fit the bill. My only concern is that @ $13 (on sale for $8), you MIGHT find it's not the safest thing in the world. By that, I mean that it might fry your battery.

But if the option is this thing vs. a new phone, I'd say give it a shot...and let me know if it works!

Beth Said:

Charge A Cell Phone Battery Without Charger?

We Answered:

No, but sometimes if you shut it off for awhile and then turn it back on later it will have at least one bar of a battery but it's not full, and that won't last forever. You can buy a new one at the store you bought your phone from but that costs money of course. Good luck.
