Solar Roof Panels?

Yes I have a system and it is performing better than estimated. I have a 3.74kwdc system that produces about 35 kwh per day in the summer and 5-10 kwh per day in the winter, even on cloudy short days I usually get a little electricity. The system was estimated to produce about 1/3 of my annual energy buy it is well over 50%, we'll have to see where I am after a full year, it was producing 75% of my electricity in the summer. The system cost $26K, I got a $10K rebate, so my out of pocket was $16K and I get a $2K fed tax credit, starting this year you will get a 30% fed tax credit. I should break even no later than midway through my 7th year. So I will get 18 years of free energy. I absolutely think it is worth it, over the 25 years it is warrantied for I will save over $45K. I will eventually add to the system to zero out my bill, I live in an area that will allow me to get an additional rebate.

I recommend getting an estimate from a licensed installer, they will be able to tell you what you can expect from a system in your area. You can usually get a couple years usage history from your utility to see what size system would work best for you. A system that reduces your bill and takes maximum advantage of rebates will save you the most money.
