We Answered:

No.
You have a meter that shows you NET usage of electricity.
This means that you use electricity from the mains but you also use your own supply at the same time.
You don't ever store it.
You use your own electricity first and then any more you use comes from the mains.
When you are not using any it goes back into the mains and runs the meter backwards, and other people use it, so in effect you are selling it back to the company.

well, there IS profit for the solar power companies, but the gas companies ( except BP)
don't see it as profitable enough for them.

and they defined themselves as GAS companies, not energy companies

When you say main breaker do you mean the big one that turns the whole house off? If so then you need a service upgrade. your washed would only trip the breaker if it's on and running at the same time I think your solor guy connected on to an existing circuit and your over Loading it. Does it only happen when there both on at the same time. If it trips the "Main" then your pulling to much juice for the whole panel and u need a service up grade. It. Really needs to checked out by a real electrician not some yahoo.
