You also have to remember that the Solar Heating panel faces the cold open night air. That can sometimes be 10 colder than the air temp. Also the sun must be out for it to get a lot of heat.
You didn't say is it was passive or does it have a circulating motor. This will help, us answer.

I lived in northern Florida, and I had to drain my down and blow it out every winter. Just to be safe.. I had it freeze but temp never got below 40 Deg F.
