Solar Panel System

Matthew Said:

Is it possible to operate a 3 way fridge solely from my 12 solar panel system - ?

We Answered:

Sure there are, they are for use in trailers. All different sizes, and prices.
Search for "refrigerator 12 volt" and you will see lots.

here's one:

You need a solar panel that can supply perhaps 100-200 watts, a charge controller, and a 12 volt sealed marine lead acid battery.

Paula Said:

how many batterys use in a solar panel system?

We Answered:

Depends. You don't need batteries at all, or you could wire up as many as you want.

Go and learn about grid tie-ins and off-grid systems. Then consider how you want to get electricty at night or on a cloudy day.

Eddie Said:

what are the names and functions of the parts of a solar-panel system?

We Answered:

There are the solar cells themselves. They are a transparent silicon wafer, and release a flow of electrons once the sun strikes the silicon atoms, which creates an electrical current. Many are usually wired together to produce more energy. The direct current (DC) electricity that is produced is stored in batteries or directly converted to the conventional alternating current (AC) electricity. A seperate inverter does this (or it did in 2000). However, my text says that Solarex is building new panels that will be equipped with built in converters.

There is a breaker panel, where energy is transferred after being converted. Then, there is the inverter, as talked about above, and a battery bank to store the DC electricity.

Hoped this helped some!

Patrick Said:

on 2kw solar panel system or 5 kw how can i run 220v out of it ?

We Answered:

Since a solar panel produces DC, usually at a voltage for charging batteries like 13.5 or 27 or 39, all you need is an inverter that produces 220 AC (actually 240) instead of the more common 120 VAC used with households in US..
