Solar Cells Manufacture

Ruby Said:

Serious Question: How many Watt hours are required to manufacture a solar cell?

We Answered:

People often say that this or that energy saving item uses more energy to make than it saves, and it is almost impossible to prove one way or the other. I say if it costs fewer dollars than the power is saves would have cost that it must NOT have taken more energy to build, because the builder would have had to pay for that energy and made that cost back from selling the item. But extremists say that the cost is not "properly" accounted, and say things like the cost of environmental damage from the production process should be given a dollar value and counted against the item. I say NONSENSE. It it saves $10 of power and costs $5 to buy, then it did not take more power to build than it saves. And solar cells do save more power than they cost to buy, eventually.

how many companies in India manufacture solar cells and what are they? What is the cost per watt for the same?

We Answered:

there is one company in chennai that makes! there are lot of companies that do i guess! cost: govt of india gives a subsidy ( a considerable amonut) for renewable energy devices this can be availed thro the company making solar cells

Dustin Said:

would you tell all of the manufacture process of solar cell?

We Answered:

I honestly cannot comprehend what you are asking.

Rhonda Said:

how to manufacture solar cell and what is laminating of solar call ?

We Answered:

o Screwdriver
o A wood saw. (An electronic wood saw shall be preferred rather than a hand saw)
o Soldering gun
o Drilling machine
o Copper wires
o Cutter for cutting wires.
o Paint brush.
o Electrical Solder
o Sheet of plexiglass.
o Silicon caulk.
o Rosin flux pen.

These were some of the items you need necessarily to make full use of the scratch items which are to be used to build a solar panel. The scratch items that are going to be used are listed below:

o Plywood of considerable length and width
o Tin wires

However there are certain items that have to be bought from a hardware shop. They are solar cells and UV protective varnish. But even this can be avoided if you had used a solar panel already.

Procedure:

o Cut the plywood in dimensions that could accommodate all the solar cells and paint the cut plywood with UV protective varnish.
o Connect each cell to each other using wires and soldering them. But before that make sure to apply flux to all the connector strips in cells using the Rosin flux pen.
o Attach these cells to the plywood using silicon caulk dabs.
o Make sure to accommodate holes for the two wires that have to be pulled from the last solar cell. Once the wires have been fed through these holes it is of utmost importance that you seal it using silicon beads.
o The next step is to drill holes in the plexiglass to accommodate screws through them.
o Build a frame to support the plexiglass.
o With the help of silicon and screws attach the plexiglass frame to the plywood containing the solar cells.
o Thus your solar panel is ready. Make sure that you have assembled all parts carefully.

The challenge however lies in just how much energy solar power would have to displace if it were to become the dominant source of energy in the world. In 2006, according to the International Energy Agency, 80.3% of the world’s energy came from fossil fuel: Oil (34.3%), coal (25.1%) and gas (20.9%). Fully 90.9% of the world’s energy came from combustion, because alongside these fossil fuels in 4th place are “combustible renewables,” mostly wood (10.6%). Include nuclear power (6.5%) and hydro-electric power (2.2%), and you have accounted for 99.5% of the world’s energy!

So where does solar fit into this equation? Most of this last half-percent of one percent of the world’s energy, .41%, is provided from geothermal sources. The energy we love so much, wind and solar, currently only provide .064% and .039% of the world’s power requirements. Put another way, for solar energy achieve its potential and replace all other sources of energy in the world, this .039% would have to increase 2,500 times.

I think now u can guess its future in INDIA.

dear all, Reg Solar cell manufacturing unit-very small scale?

We Answered:

The First thing is to do the research on what product you want to produce and the marketing of that product. Solar cells used to cost up to $10.00 per watt. now from china you can get them for less than $3.00 a watt You can go to the sites of NCSU's or IREC's Web sites They can guide you with information on your location if it is in the USA the Resources at my site E.P.A. of Concord LLC. Http://epaoc.com has links to all of the United States resources including those listed below
There is a local mfg company in our town that sell them for about $4.50 per watt but they are a specified company they are at : www.sbmsolar.com
