Solar Cell Structure

Michelle Said:

How are super molecular structure useful?

We Answered:

Bit of a vague question but...

For drug development we need to be able to see the structures of proteins which are fairly large. We need to be able to determine how the drugs interact and where so we can improve them.

For solar cells, the various layers and crystal structures of the compounds used need to be viewed so we can improve their efficiency.

Stanley Said:

Is it possible to make my engineering thesis without experiment?

We Answered:

molecular structure of solar cell panel is like saying molecular structure of SILICON.

Silicon for solar cells does not need to be "doped", as Silicon for transistors is doped.

So you look at a solar cell under various magnifications and report your findings.

Maybe your conclusion could suggest how to improve it to make it more efficient.

Seth Said:

Has any astronomer or philosopher ever commented on how similar the structure of our solar system is to...?

We Answered:

People have been saying that ever since we figured out what an atom looks like. But really they don't have much at all in common - electrons constitute a 'cloud' around the nucleus, they aren't really in defined orbits like we draw them (or like planets) and they move in 3D, not on a plane. Filamentary structure is common in nature.
