A scope is the best choice. Or you can use a microphone,an ampilfier and one AC voltmeter connect to the speaker. Adjust the level of amplifier until you see voltage reading at the speaker when microphone receives AF signal. Keep this setting to compair a new reading when it receives a weaker signal.

distance between the source and the PV (photo-voltaic cell) which you should specify if it applies, solar cells don't produce electricity, the afore mentioned do. solar cells use heat converted from sunlight to heat water for an example but enough of that,
so we have output ( light intensity )
and source ( lamp )
and receiver ( the solar cell )
if you want to get technical,
is the experiment done in a vacuum?
which would change the resistance the light waves face while traveling to the receiver
