Photovoltaic Solar Cell

Veronica Said:

photovoltaic,temperature?

We Answered:

I don't know about your particular cells, but most cells you can buy will not be rated for concentration.

That said, it would probably work. In normal panels, it's not unusual to have the cells heat up to ambient+35, or say, 75 C on a hot day.

If the water is there as a coolant, you can probably keep the temperature within that range. If your intention is really to boil the water, then as you say, it will get to 100 C or more, depending on the pressure in the system.

This sounds like a fun project, but I would not expect it to be very practical.

WIth a concentrator, you need a tracker, and that generally means motors and a control system.

You can see the solution that seems to have won economically in most places. For hot water, people use flat plates that only heat the water. For electricity, they use flat plates that only produce electricity.
