The key word is wealthy,,,, a wealthy person has some business smarts , regardless of affiliation,,

** excluding any government grants*****

Removing " carbon foot print" and other feel good things out of the equation , adding solar panels and wind mills costs lots of money and the payback is well past 20 years for whole house systems.

Water heating only ,, return may be only 5 or so years.

So being smart people they have done the math and figured they can invest the money elsewhere and get a higher return
