This is not an 'electric' response as written and occurs in either the peroxisome or cytoplasm of cells. However, the bulk of the ATP in cells is produced in response to an electrical potential or proton motive force generated across membranes. This is true in chloroplasts where charge separation is the primary event leading to photosynthetic generation of ATP via an ATP synthase called the coupling factors (proteins responsible for coupling transmembrane potentials to ATP synthesis in chloroplasts and mitochondria, including ATP synthesizing enzymes like the F1 protein in the mitochondrion that can also act as ATPases).

Artificial photosynthesis is an approach to solar energy conversion that is modeled on nature's solar energy conversion method, using materials or strategies based on photosynthesis.
