PV GAP QUALITY MARK FOR TATA BP SOLAR
The PV GAP Quality Mark has been awarded to Tata BP Solar for its 1 Wp to 80 Wp TBP Mono and Poly Crystalline Solar PV Modules. Tata BP Solar now joins five other companies that have been awarded the PV GAP Quality Mark – BP Solar, Isofoton, Photowatt, RWE Schott Solar and Webel-SL Energy Systems. Tata BP Solar (www.tatabp.com) is a joint venture of Tata Power and BP Solar. Tata Power is a pioneer in the power sector in India and one of the largest companies in the Tata Group.
PV GAP has created an internationally recognized quality benchmark for photovoltaic products. The PV GAP Quality Mark has become a much sought after PV industry quality recognition in recent years. The World Bank recognises the PV GAP Quality Mark (www.worldbank.org) and recommends that it be requested to be specified in tenders supported by the World Bank.
To obtain the license to display the PV Quality Mark on products the manufacturer must hold an IECEE (IEC System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrical Equipment) Conformity Assessment Certificate. This certificate takes into account the manufacturer’s ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management System (QMS) certification. It also takes into account that the PV modules were successfully tested according to an applicable International Standard (IEC-61215) by an accredited PV testing laboratory (in this case STQC’s ETDC in Bangalore).
Tata BP Solar’s manufacturing facilities in Bangalore are the largest of their kind in India. The product range covers nearly forty categories, from cells and modules, through lighting solutions, water pumps, telecom and computer powerpacks, offshore power systems, vaccine refrigerator and systems of every description, to solar aids for disaster management.
These products cater to individual customers, large institutions as well as communities. For custom designed solar electric projects, the company utilizes hi-tech computerised system-sizing design tools.
Tata BP Solar sets great store by its HSSE credo of:”No accidents, no harm to people, ensure security of personnel, properties and information and no damage to the environment”.
By obtaining the license to display the PV Quality Mark on its PV modules, Tata BP Solar demonstrated that its products are able to fulfil the state of the art quality requirements and differentiate them from those of other producers not displaying the signifying mark of excellence. The visual recognition of the PV Quality Mark signals and simplifies for consumers the selection of quality products.
The Global Approval Program for Photovoltaics (PV GAP ) is a worldwide organization created on the initiative of the PV industry associations, research and development bodies, the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program. PV GAP, a not-for-profit international organization, is dedicated to the sustained growth of global photovoltaics markets to meet energy needs world-wide in an environmentally sound manner.
