Residential Solar Energy Systems

Jimmie Said:

If its so hard to get gov. solar incentives in Canada, why don't companies offer rebates, then write them off?

We Answered:

I know of one company that does.

Also some companies will try to get you financing through a bank but this is not a common practice in Canada yet.

Leslie Said:

Energy meter recommendations?

We Answered:

Dude. That is cool. There is a couple who put their whole installation journal on the web from Mamouth out in California. They were able to do it but their devices, costs and time to get there seemed difficult. So if you do what you want, you will definitely have problems. But like me, thats what makes our lives fun to live. So party on.

I see your system is not integrated. This will be cheaper, but you will run into problems and replacements. Also connecting the feeds will sometimes blow cicuits and crap causing inconvienience.

But hang in there. Eventually, the standards will kick in and the patents will be more plentiful driving the costs down.

Henry Said:

How do the different solar utility subsidy programs uniquely effect IRS Form 5695?

We Answered:

If the utility issues you a 1099-Misc, you use the gross amount to figure your credit.
if the utility does NOT issue you a 1099-Misc, you use the net amount after subtrancting the utility rebate.

rant requirement for solar voltaic residential energy,,tie to commercial?

We Answered:

The problem with solar power is.. cost.

Since it would cost appx $30,000 to set up a solar power system for a single house... How many people want to add that to their mortgage?

OK.. in about 15 years it might pay off in energy savings... but people want immediate payoff, not 15 years of higher mortgage payments.

Hugh Said:

Do you have a residential geothermal heating system.?

We Answered:

I don't an actual system, but I have some knowledge on how a geothermal system works. Geothermal heating systems, also called ground-source heat pumps, capture the supply of heat energy and move it from the Earth and through a home or building by recycling water through PVC pipe. Basically, once installed, a home or building owner will use much less energy, save money each month, and reduce the amount of pollution produced by fossil fuel systems. It has recently been estimated that if all the school sysytems in the US were to convert to a geothermal system that would save 200 million barrels of crude oil a year!

Call your local HVAC specialist, he should have information on local area contractors who specialize in this sort of work
