My impression is that there is no premium for installing solar, as it's virtually the same as running a new branch circuit - service panel work, junction boxes, conduit, wire sizing. Just ask in your area what a journeyman electrician gets.

2. Add a concentrator (large fresnel lens) to the panels.

Keep in mind that your solar system will need batteries, which have lead or other toxic metals, and they will need to be replaced, which will cost money, and which will contribute to global warming (manufacturing energy, distribution energy. Don't forget to factor in the cost of energy in manufacturing the panels in-the-first-place, too!

Overall, solar is not the panecea you might think it is.

That said... personally, if I had the money I would be going 'solar', too, but not to cut down on global warming.
