Pv Solar Power Systems

Leslie Said:

if i use 1480 kilowatts per month and i add a solar system that has 6 , 170 watt what % will i save on e-bill?

We Answered:

How much you save depends on a lot of factors, including whether you energy bill is tiered (kWh's over a certain baseline cost more), and where your house is located. Between Arizona and Maine, there can be a 2:1 difference in energy harvested.

Our house is in San Jose, California. Our system is about 3 times the size of yours, and our electrical usage was 1/3 of yours, before we got the panels. They produce substantially all our electricity. So if your house were next to ours, you would be displacing a little more than 10% of your energy with the panels.

Warning: I'm suspicious of a system that comes with only a 5-year warranty. The usual warranty for a professionally installed system is 20 years, with the panels themselves being warranted for 25. Maybe post another question with a link to the actual system, then people can give their opinion.
