Pv Solar Companies

Justin Said:

How Big would Power Plants need to be if homeowners owned Solar PV Connected to the Grid w/Net Metering?

We Answered:

Not sure of the numbers but you are addressing it correctly . The day time panels reduce the day time demand and the plant can run without " peak " production . Every bit of power the small units produce is less that will be on the demand .

We have the solar panels, we have the land, now what?

Are you sure you want 50 MW ? Enough for a town of 40,000 homes ?

This is out of the realm of off-the-shelf, you need to get all of this specially designed. You need special high power inverter, and some high voltage transformers and high voltage lines to ship this power to wherever it is going. I'd start with a firm of design engineers that specialize in large power plants.

density is about 12 watts per square foot, so that is 4 million square feet or 90 acres. And about US$ 150 million, just for the panels, not counting installation, wiring, inverters, etc.
