what are some disadvantages of solar energy?

We Answered:

Hi friend,
There are many more advantages than disadvantages of solar energy.
* The initial cost is the main disadvantage of installing a solar energy system, largely because of the high cost of the semi-conducting materials used in building one.
* A solar energy installation requires a large area for the system to be efficient in providing a source of electricity. This may be a disadvantage in areas where space is short, or expensive
* Solar energy is only useful when the sun is shining. During the night, your expensive solar equipment will be useless, however the use of solar battery chargers can help to reduce the effects of this disadvantage.
* The location of solar panels can affect performance, due to possible obstructions from the surrounding buildings or landscape.
Best of luck..

What are the usage of solar energy?

We Answered:

By connecting the solar panels to an inverter, you can convert the DC power generated by a solar panel into AC power, and anything you plug into the wall plug can use solar energy.

But, if your question is what can run directly from solar panels, then my list is solar water pumps http://www.altestore.com/store/Solar-Wat… solar refrigerators and freezers http://www.altestore.com/store/Energy-Ef… and fans http://www.altestore.com/store/Lighting-…

Are animals and plants part of Solar Energy? And if so can some one give me a picture?

We Answered:

The sun is the earth's largest source of reliable energy. Plants have green leaves that absorb and trap sunlight and convert that light into chemical energy; namely starches that other animals eat.

The sunlight is converted to starches by chlorophyll, a green substance in the leaves of green plants. Carbon dioxide gas molecules (CO2) in our atmosphere is combined into sugar; sugar is combined into starches. Wood is a form of starch called cellulose.

Secondly, water is "split" (chopped into three pieces) releasing oxygen (gas) by photosynthesis. So plants provide us oxygen by "splitting" water; and plants provide us sugar by "fixing" carbon dioxide. We eat the plants or we animals that eat the plants. This is how we get our energy.

So, cows are animals that eat grass; in so doing they gather sugar energy and live. We eat cows, for example. Or, certain insects eat plants; some fish eat those insects and then we eat the fish...so on and so forth.

Yvonne Said:

do atoms and the solar system's shape represent human progress through energy or something?

We Answered:

Atomic orbits are similar to our solar system, and this may give rise to the philosophical question of our own insignificance. This has been the basis of some religions and Sci-Fi story lines.

Debbie Said:

Regardless of whether the energy reflects off of or is absorbed at the surface, the picture reveals that the a?

We Answered:

Technically, a and b combined are the reasons. The parallel rays hit the Earth but due to the curvature the irradiance differs. I guess the primary reason is a, but if the rays from the sun were convergent then you could compensate.
