Which is better-Mechanical or solar energy engineering???

We Answered:

Hello, I'm finishing my mechanical engineering degree very soon. What the mechanical engineering degree gives you is lots of options. You can go just about anywhere. I've never actually heard of solar power as an engineering discipline; however, I'm guessing that as far as jobs go, you should be able to get a solar power engineering job with a mechanical engineering degree, but not necessarily get your average mechanical engineering job with a solar power engineering degree.

Mechanical Engineering covers a very broad range of topics. Everything from basic statics and dynamics to advanced thermodymanics, fluid mechanics, materials science, advanced mathematics, and even finite element analysis etc. So yes, it is quite challenging. Whether or not it is difficult is up to you.

Like I said, Mechanical is very broad, Solar seems quite specialized. I guess you should ask yourself, do I really want to specialize this early in my career? This choice is up to you, but options sure are nice to have.
