Bp Solar Panels

Pamela Said:

DrFred&Crabby,Solar Panels and Elect cars have been out 40 years, so it's oil Greed?

We Answered:

Yes, my answer to this question which IS a question is yes. Of course it's greed, why do you think fuel prices Still didn't and haven't went down, even though the oil wells in the ocean south of the south-eastern U.S. that WERE broken from hurricane Katrina which is the reason why the fuel prices went up which was to fix the oil wells, HAVE in fact been fixed for a long time now!

Regular Gasoline should be no more that $1.00 per gallon and Diesel should be roughly have the price of Gasoline because diesel costs twice as less to make as gasoline.

How much do solar panels cost?

We Answered:

1, 75 watt pannel 400$

divide that into Killowatts and your talking millions of dollars

Solar Power/Invertor?

We Answered:

the panel cost depends on the wattage of the panels...
you can size the panel according to your requirement

i hope in india a 100W panel may cost you around 18000-20000

if we get 6 hours of proper sunlight falling on the panles.. u wil be approximately generating 600watts a day..

u can light a 100watt bulb for 6 hours

u need a solar charge controller before the battery so that there is proper charging of battery and no reverse current during night to damage ur panles....

u have to choos eyour panel according to your battery.. like whether it is a 6V , 12 V or 24 V battery

ex; a 12V panel will generate around 16.5V whicch after lossed in controller and wires will come to 14-15V.. which is required for a12V battery for proper charging

solar water heater is only efficient and affordable option for common people in india..

there are many small companies in india doing solar works.. juz try search engines ..

When 75W BP solar panels are connected in parallel, their currents dont sum. Why?

We Answered:

Start with a flashlight cell. A single cell creates an electrical pressure (1.5 volts) similar to water pressure. The cell will supply a certain amount of current in a circuit depending upon the total resistance (ohms) of the circuit (like a pipe with a throttle valve). If two cells are placed in series, each boosts the pressure (1.5 + 1.5 = 3 volts) which will double current in the same circuit.

If two cells are placed in parallel they produce only 1.5 volts of pressure, but will last twice as long as a single cell.

In like manner, two 75W solar panels in parallel will produce the same voltage as a single panel and current will depend upon total resistance of the circuit. The two panels in parallel can produce twice the current, if the resistance is cut in half. The bulbs in flashlights must be matched (resistance) with the number of cells in the flashlight or the bulb will glow weakly or burn out.

Edith Said:

How do I wire a 24V solar panel to a 12V battery bank?

We Answered:

Most any charge controller will work as long as the input voltage is rated to handle the open circuit voltage of your panel, which may be in the 40V range. The solar panel's voltage will drop to match the load during charging; it just won't be as efficient as it could be unless you get a controller with maximum power point tracking (MPPT). MPPT will get the most power from the panel and convert it to the proper charging voltage for your battery bank.
